Pumpkin

What a long 12 days it has been for us! At 16 weeks my doctor does blood work to test the baby's health. I wasn't too worried and didn't think too much of it until we got a phone call. My blood work came back positive that Pumpkin had a small chance of down syndrome. He had sent it back to be tested again on my 2nd due date and it still came back positive. Yes, I kind of have 2 due dates- Oct. 7 on paper and Oct. 3 from the ultrasound at 10 weeks. My doctor kept the Oct 7 due date and just said this one could come early. So they referred us to a specialist in the Valley for a level 2 ultrasound with a consult. Of course our luck they had a 12 day wait for their next opening. This test didn't change anything. It didn't change the love we have for Pumpkin. It didn't change how we would do anything for this little one. And it didn't change that we are so excited for this one to join our family. It was just a little scary and worrisome for a while. I tried to keep myself busy for the 12 days. I cleaned closets, shelves, dressers, just to keep my mind busy. The day finally came today for our appointment. I was excited but nervous. From what I had learned from a level 2 ultrasound, you get to see almost a clear picture of your little one. That was exciting!!! But we also knew, we could be the one in the odds they gave us. It was all up to Heavenly Father and the path he wanted us to be on. Today, we had a level 2 ultrasound where they checked for 10 points to check for down syndrome. All 10 points had no sign of down syndrome.

A Healthy Girl!!!! In honor of pumpkin we stopped on our way home and got a pink shake! I have to say, when I first saw pumpkin on the screen I had tears in my eyes. When she said it was a girl, Ryan said he got tears in his eyes. We are so excited for Pumpkin!
