Fall Fun

The Friend Who Just Stands By

The Friend Who Just Stands By by Author Unknown

When trouble comes your soul to try.
You love the friend who just "stands by".
Perhaps there's nothing he can do.
The thing is strictly up to you,
For there are troubles all you own.
And paths the soul must tread alone.
Times when love cannot smooth the road.
Nor friendship lift the heavy load,
But just to know you have a friend
Who will "stand by" until the end,
Whose sympathy through all endures.
Whose warm handclasp is always yours.
It helps, somehow, to pull you through.
Although there's nothing he can do.
And so with fervent heart you cry.
"God bless the friend who just stands by."

This past week has been full of ups and downs for me. I tried to not let the little things get to me. Yesterday I had a friend email me I haven't talked to in a few weeks. She was letting me know she was thinking of me. How perfect her timing was and how I needed that email. It reminded me of this poem and how grateful I am to have those friends that stand by me through it all. It also reminded me that I need to be that kind of friend too.

All I can say is THANK YOU!!! Your email lifted me up!

Daddy

Ryan usually doesn't work on Fidays. He had to go in to today and got home at 2:30. He made lots of noises and was throwing his big boots everywhere. Well of course he woke Dallin up after an hour and half nap. He always takes 2 and half to three hour naps. The funny part was all of a sudden we hear Dallin say daddy. Then he was quiet. Ryan went in to change and wanted to take a nap. Dallin started to make this certain noise that he and Ryan do back and forth. It was so cute. Ryan laid on the bed and would make this noise and then you would hear Dallin making the same noise back. They did it back and forth for about 5 minutes. Ryan and I were laughing at how cute it was. I tried to post a video of it but it didn't work twice. Sorry.

This is Dallin's new favorite way to sleep- with his blanket or anything else over his head. I can't sleep with a blanket covering my head but Dallin seems to love it.

I laughed watching Dallin get all of his shoes and then try to put them on. He didn't get any on but it's amazing how easy he gets them off.

Ryan was so cute when we decided to color pictures for our nieces. He was a good sport and Hadlee loved her picture from Uncle Ryan.

A First

Our Poor Dallin- he's pretty sick. He went from a little congested Sat morning when I got him up, to a runny nose Sun, to a horrible Sun night. Sat and Sun we had no signs of what a night we were in for. We knew he was getting a little cold but he was still happy and eating and taking good naps. We put him down Sun night at 7:45 and I checked on him at 8 and he was asleep. Ryan and I enjoyed our time together and we were just about to crawl into bed at 10 when Dallin started to cry. Let's just say that night Dallin woke up every 2 hours crying. It wasn't a big, let it all out cry- just a I don't feel good cry. At 3 AM, I went in to comfort him and he had a fever so I got him a drink. It was cold and I was tired from getting no sleep so I put him in bed with us. That's a first for us. I honestly would love to let him sleep with us but I don't want to start that pattern. My heart just went out to our little guy. When I first got into bed with him he didn't even move the first 20 min. But after an hour of him tossing and turning and kicking I knew he would sleep better and so would I if he was in his crib. He really didn't even cry just snuggled in his crib at 4:30 when I put him down. I hoped he would sleep in but just after 7 he was awake. The longest stretch he went last night was 2 and half hours before waking up. Our day has been full of Einstein dvds, snuggles, and Dallin just not looking like he feels good. I have a feeling Ryan is making dinner. It's always hard when little ones get sick.

I'm Doing Good

I've had a lot of people concerned with our family so I just wanted to update everyone on how we are doing. First, 3 weeks ago was one of the hardest experiences our family has gone through. If I had any pull in this world it would be that no one would have to go through that. But, it's all part of life. Coming out of that weekend I know that Ryan and I have a better appreciation for each other. I didn't think we could get closer but we have. As for me, I have to be honest it was hard. The first 2 weeks were the hardest. The first week there were lots of tears and I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything. That's how I deal with things. The best thing Ryan and I did was go to the temple the next Friday. I had a very special experience there and it was filled with lots of emotions but it really helped to be there. It took me just over 2 weeks and then the Sat of conference I put all my make up on and actually got dressed for a change and that was a new start for me. One thing many people have asked me is about my emotions and hormones being all out of whack. I'm really lucky it wasn't bad. I feel I am pretty in check with that and Ryan has to agree. I was never one of those pregnant women that Ryan thought would come out- you know what I mean. It still has it's hard moments but I have such an amazing, awesome, wonderful husband that just holds me and tells me that he loves me. Overall, we are all doing good. We love each other and love being a family. We know our little one just needed a body and we helped them on their way in this crazy journey of life. Thanks for all of those people that sent their love and hugs to our family. They really helped. These beautiful flowers are what my family sent to me. I loved them!!

Staying Busy

Our family has been staying busy lately. We love being outside and enjoying the nice weather. One of Dallin's favorite things to do is grab his shoes and pull my hand to the door. He loves to go for walks outside. He usually wins and we go outside!!

Dallin has learned to open drawers while helping me in the kitchen. I thought it was so nice of him to help wash the clean dishes from the drawer.

I was trying to teach Dallin to sign but haven't done it in awhile. He knew what I was signing but never did it back. One day he started to sign "more." He does more lots now. It's so cute!! That's what he's doing in the picture.

Dallin loves the computer. He was trying to climb the chair but figured to just reach for it.

Last Sat we drove up to the mountains to listen to conference and enjoy the morning. It was really cold but was lots of fun.

I love this picture. Dallin loves his dad (so do I)!!

Poor guy- Dallin was playing with a ball and fell and his face hit the dirt. He got a bump on his forehead and was bleeding under his mouth. He didn't want any loves, just his ball to keep playing.
